Amber Heard was questioned about the recording of her pushing Johnny Depp to ‘tell the world’ that he is a victim of abuse

Amber Heard was questioned by Johnny Depp’s lawyers about an audio recording in which she can be heard pressuring her ex-husband to “tell the world” that he was a victim of domestic abuse.

Ms. Heard took the stand at the Fairfax, Virginia, courthouse on Monday as the multimillion-dollar libel trial resumed after a week-long recess.

During cross-examination, Depp’s lawyers played audio of Heard telling Depp: “Tell them, I, Johnny Depp, am a victim of domestic abuse… and see how many people believe or are on your side.”

Depp’s lawyer questioned Heard about her comments, asking if she didn’t think her husband would tell the world that he was a victim.

Ms. Heard agreed that she would not believe that he would claim to be a victim because he was the one who “hit me”.

“I was telling the man who hit me,” Ms. Heard responded.

“It was hard for me to believe that he could or wanted to do that given the relationship that he and I had.

“I thought it would be crazy for me to do it knowing what we live through.”

When asked what she meant by Mr Depp not presenting himself as a male victim of abuse, Ms Heard denied that she was referring to his gender.

“He was saying it as if it was a man who beat me for five years,” he said.

During intense questioning, Depp’s lawyer questioned why Heard had no visible bruises or signs of abuse in some photos taken at various events after the alleged violence occurred.

Ms. Heard explained that she had used makeup to cover the marks and ice to reduce swelling.

Jurors were shown close-up photos of Ms. Heard’s mouth taken after an appearance on the James Corden show.the late show a day after she claims she was abused by her husband.

At the time, he reportedly had a broken lip from Mr. Depp’s punch.

She was also asked if there was any medical record of the alleged incident in which Depp sexually assaulted her with a liquor bottle. Ms. Heard said that she did not seek medical attention because she did not want anyone to know what happened.

However, Depp claims that it falsely implies that he is a domestic abuser, something he adamantly denies, and has left him struggling to land roles in Hollywood. He is suing for $50 million.

Ms Heard is countersuing for $100 million, accusing Mr Depp of orchestrating a “smear campaign” against her and describing his lawsuit as a continuation of “abuse and harassment”.
