Elden Ring has shipped 13.4 million units as of March 31 according to Bandai Namco, and its latest sales figure was bolstered by 1.4 million sales during the second half of that month. While it’s worth noting that the figure relates to units that shipped at retail, Bandai Namco reported 12 million sales as of March 14, so apparently the math checks out.
Since its release in February for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, Elden Ring has been a critical and commercial success for developer From Software, regularly topping the bestseller charts. Souls’ mix of inventive action gameplay, rich world-building involving Game of Thrones author George RR Martin, and impressive storytelling have helped make it one of the biggest hits of the year so far.
As industry analyst Mat Piscatella put it, Elden Ring has experienced “mind-boggling” levels of success since its launch.
Every time I look at the Elden Ring data, I find myself staring at it for a moment with varying shades of admiration, mild shock, and amazement. The scale of success is mind-boggling.
