Gwyneth Paltrow’s School of Not Knowing Your Marvel Co-Stars has a new graduate, and her name is elizabeth olsen.
The ‘Avengers’ star claimed he never met John Krasinski …which co-stars with her in the Marvel Cinematic UniverseThe latest offering from “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”

The strange statement was made during Vanity Fair‘s “Lie Detector Test” video series, in which the magazine connects celebrities to the machinery to ask them deliciously silly questions about their lives and careers in very serious voices.
During the video, Olsen is presented with a photo of Krasinski. In the film, he plays Reed Richards, a scientist and inventor better known as Mister Fantastic, considered the smartest man on Earth. When Olsen’s interrogator asks if he thinks the man in the photo is in fact “the smartest man in the world”, Olsen gives a crazy answer:
“No,” Olsen said with a smile. “I don’t know him though, but I would never assume that an actor would be the smartest man alive.”

The skeptical Vanity Fair interviewer then asks, “Don’t you know him at all?”
Olsen frowns and contemplates.
“I don’t think so. No, I never met him,” he concludes after a couple of seconds.
When Olsen is reminded that the pair starred in a movie together, Olsen looks imploringly at the lie detector test operator.
She then calmly repeats, “I never met him.”
The verdict? He is telling the truth, at least according to the machine.
However, he does admit to knowing someone adjacent to Krasinski: Emily Blunt.
“I met his wife,” says Olsen.
The Emmy-nominated actor has starred in multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe properties as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, including his own Disney+ series, “WandaVision.” And we’re not sure if Olsen is extremely good at her craft, or if Marvel’s notoriously secretive filming process is just confusing, but she seems sincere in her claim to not know Krasinski.
Or at least as candid as Paltrow, who has also starred in numerous Marvel properties as Pepper Potts, about not knowing. or remembering his co-stars.
Earlier in the Vanity Fair video, Olsen is arrested for a lie in which she says she thinks musician Danielle Haim did a good job of acting in the 2021 movie “Licorice Pizza.”
And while Olsen also said that Haim is a “very talented person and has a very good vibe,” when asked if she thought she was a better actress than Haim, Olsen reacted with a fit of laughter, saying:
