The latest MultiVersus trailer updated the copyright to include both Rick and Morty and Space Jam, essentially confirming previous leaks.
MultiVersus is hands down one of the most leaked games of the past year, with nearly every item leaked before, during, and after its initial announcement. Early leaks of the game showed Rick Sanchez as a playable character and mentioned that Space Jam’s LeBron James would also appear at a later date.
After a long wait with no official news, Player First Games revealed the latest look at MultiVersus yesterday, including the website update to allow sign-ups for the upcoming closed alpha. As PapaGenos saw it on Twitteralso updated the copyright information at the bottom of the site.
The new copyright now specifically references Rick and Morty, as well as Space Jam, which seems to confirm previous leaks of the game that mentioned LeBron James, Rick Sanchez, and even Morty Smith as playable characters.
This really shouldn’t surprise anyone keeping up with MultiVersus, as Rick was leaked early on and has all of his moveset data in-game. The only thing missing so far is his voice lines, although he is referenced by other characters.
Some characters also speak directly to Morty, implying that he is a character as well and could be included later. However, so far no movement data or models of Morty have been found from data mining.
Interestingly, there was actually already Space Jam content in the game’s last tech test, as Bugs Bunny can unlock his Space Jam t-shirt as a costume. It’s unclear if copyright has been included to reference that or if it actually hints at LeBron, but it makes more sense to reference the character since MultiVersus reportedly has non-playable character avatars that aren’t included in the game. copyright, like Gizmo from Gremlins.
