Texas: Ring camera footage shows young white man banging on black family’s front door with whip

A nine-year-old white boy was allegedly caught on camera cracking a whip outside a black neighbor’s door, leading to a series of incidents and eventually landing his father in jail.

Bryan Thomas Brunson, the boy’s father, was arrested for accidentally firing a gun that nearly hit his daughter after a verbal altercation with black neighbors.

The boy approached the front door of Dee and Carissa Nash in Forney, Texas, last Thursday with a long whip that he cracked more than twice before hitting the door multiple times, ring door video showed.

When Mrs. Nash opened the door, the boy, visibly shocked, froze as he was told to leave the property. “Boy, you better get your ass off my porch, banging on my door like that,” Ms. Nash can be heard saying.

“I’m going to call the police. You need to go. Don’t ever bang on my fucking door like that. Come on!” she added. The couple claimed that the boy was looking for her nine-year-old daughter and that she had scratched Ms. Nash’s car while getting out of it.

The couple said they reported it to police, who claimed the boy’s family was moving “to make it all happen” and asked them to figure it out.

“My wife called the police right after the boy left with the whip. The officer said they can’t press charges because the boy was only nine years old,” Nash told TMZ.

They were advised to seek other legal measures.

He added that the officer never showed the video to the boy’s father or confiscated the whip, which they feared the boy might take to school or chase his daughter.

In the video below, Mr. Nash is seen outside Mr. Brunson’s house, complaining about his son’s behavior.

“Let me show you the video if you come out and talk like adults. I’m trying to have a civil conversation…his son hit my door with a whip and hit my car,” Nash said.

“I don’t know, but my son told me that his son attacked him on the way home,” Mr. Brunson replied from inside his home.

Nash can be heard saying in the video that his son was 13 and did not go to the same school.

Brunson then went outside to ask Nash to leave his property. “Get off my property because you’re not coming in here talking nice. You are accusing my son,” Brunson yelled.

As Mr. Nash left the property, the men began hurling insults at each other. “Your son came here with a bloody whip. Him bring his ass back here and see what the hell happens,” Nash said.

Mr. Brunson can be seen holding a gun which he discharges as Mr. Nash turns to answer him. As the bullet was fired, Mrs. Nash can be heard repeatedly yelling, “Oh my gosh!”

“The gun was always out,” Nash told TMZ.

Videos of the incident, now viral on social media with nearly 5 million views, were posted over the weekend in light of the shooting in Buffalo where 10 black people were killed by an 18-year-old white supremacist.

Kaufman County Sheriff Jason Johnson said Brunson was arguing with the couple in their driveway with an illegal Ruger semi-automatic pistol. He accidentally discharged the gun when he was picking it up from the ground.

“It had a child standing behind it and when it blew up it could have seriously injured that child or taken the life of that child or someone else,” NBC5 quoted the police officer as saying.

“This is not acceptable. That’s how things escalate. That’s why things like Buffalo happen because it starts with something like this. This is taught, no one is born that way. I think it’s taught,” Nash said.
